Welcome to the Termite Mound, where you can choose between two exclusive-use self-catering options nestled in the heart of Khwai, Botswana. The Termite Villa accommodates up to 6 guests, while Termite Tented offers a cozy stay for up to 4 guests.
With elevated views over the Khwai River and into the stunning Moremi Game Reserve, this is the perfect place to unwind and soak up the natural beauty of the area. Ideal for self-drive travellers, the Termite Mound offers a cost-effective and comfortable alternative to camping — perfect for those who want to experience the wild without the hassle of packing everything but the kitchen sink.
Termite Villa can accommodate up to 6 guests in 3 en-suite bedrooms
2 upstairs bedrooms with a Queen-size bed and open plan en-suite bathroom as well as a deck overlooking the Moremi Game Reserve.
1 downstairs bedroom with 2 single beds and a separate en-suite bathroom. This room is airy and bright and opens up onto the living area.
All rooms are equipped with linens, towels, fans and mosquito nets.
There is a fully equipped kitchen which includes a gas oven and fridge / freezer. The dining area, bar, and living space are all open plan and airy.
There is a fire pit for evening braais (barbecues)
Termite Tented can accommodate 4 guests in 2 en-suite tented rooms.
The Tented rooms are set on wooden decks under dappled shade and each have 2 single beds and separate en-suite facilities.
Both rooms are equipped with linens, towels, fans and a safe.
Rooms open to decks with views of the garden.
A separate kitchen and dining area is provided with all the equipment you would need including a gas oven and fridge / freezer. The living area is set on an elevated deck in the canopy of a Leadwood tree overlooking the Moremi Game Reserve.
There is a fire pit for evening braais (barbecues).
The Termite Villa and Termite Tented can be booked independently or together, offering greater flexibility for various group sizes and preferences.
You will need to bring ice, your food, drinks and your clothing. The water in the taps comes from a well point and although we feel it is safe to drink, we would recommend that guests bring bottled water for drinking.
There are small shops around Khwai village and you will be able to get some basic supplies.
Fire wood is also available in the village or from our staff.
Don’t forget your binoculars and camera, and pack some mozzie spray and sunscreen.

Bookings can be made as follows:
Termite Villa exclusive use – 4 to 6 guests
Termite Tented exclusive use – 2 to 4 guests
Termite Villa and Tented exclusive use – 8 to 10 guests
Take the Shorobe road from Maun towards Moremi. Continue as the road changes to gravel. Go through Mawana Buffalo Fence (a veterinary check point) and 2km past the gate the road will fork.
The left fork (South Gate Moremi) takes you through Moremi National Park At the entrance you will need to pay day entry fees. Follow the NORTH GATE signs through the park. Once you exit the park, head down the main gravel road past a bright green general supplies shop on your right and then over a bridge. Continue until you get to the Water Lily Tuckshop on your right and follow the TM signs to your right.
Alternatively, the right fork takes you through Sankuyo and Mababe villages to Khwai village. As you enter Khwai you’ll see a Termite Mound Guesthouse sign indicating straight. At the Water Lily Tuck shop, turn left and follow the TM signs.
Driving time for both routes will be approximately 3 hours from Maun.
